Terms of Service
Effective as of April 15, 2025
Welcome. I’m Emily Krouse, and emilykrousephoto.com is where I share my film photography, writing, and the stories behind the spaces I document. By visiting or using this website, you agree to the terms below. If something here doesn’t sit right with you, please don’t use the site — and I’m always open to a conversation if you have questions.
What these terms cover
These Terms of Service apply to all content, pages, and features on emilykrousephoto.com, including the portfolio, journal entries, articles, and any downloadable resources. They don’t override any separate agreements we might have for commissioned work or print licensing — those live in their own contracts.
Intellectual property
Every photograph, article, and piece of text on this site is my original work (unless explicitly credited otherwise). All of it is protected by copyright law. That means:
- You’re welcome to view, read, and share links to pages or posts, as long as you credit emilykrousephoto.com and don’t imply any endorsement.
- You may not download, republish, crop, edit, or redistribute any image or written content without my written permission.
- If you’d like to use a photograph for your own project, website, or publication, please reach out. I’m fairly easy to work with, but I do need to know where my work ends up.
User contributions
At some point, the site may include comment sections or guest contributions. If you post a comment, you’re responsible for what you write. Keep it respectful and relevant. I reserve the right to remove anything that’s spam, abusive, or otherwise harmful to the community — without notice and at my discretion. By posting, you grant me a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display the comment on the site, but you keep ownership of your words.
Accuracy and editorial independence
I research every article and case study carefully, but I can’t guarantee that every historical detail or technical note is perfect. The information I share reflects my experience and perspective as an analog photographer, not universal fact. When I review film stocks, cameras, or techniques, I’m speaking from my own hands-on work — no one pays me for endorsements, and I don’t run affiliate links that influence editorial choices.
External links
Sometimes I link to other websites, products, or resources. I don’t control those third-party sites, and I’m not responsible for what you find there. A link doesn’t mean I endorse everything on that site, and if something changes after I’ve linked to it, that’s outside my hands.
Limitation of liability
I run this site as a labor of love, not a software company. I take reasonable steps to keep it secure and functional, but I can’t promise it will always be up, error-free, or perfectly suited to your needs. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Emily Krouse and emilykrousephoto.com won’t be liable for any direct, indirect, or incidental damages that come from your use of the site. If you’re in a jurisdiction that doesn’t allow this kind of limitation, my liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania.
Changes to these terms
I may update this page from time to time — for example, if the site adds new features or the legal landscape shifts. When I do, the “Effective as of” date at the top will change. By continuing to use the site after an update, you accept the revised terms. If I ever plan a change that materially affects your rights, I’ll make a reasonable effort to highlight it here or on the homepage.
Contact
If you have questions about these terms, or if you need permission to use something you’ve seen on the site, email me at [email protected]. I read every message, even if it takes me a few days to reply.
Thank you for being here, and for respecting the work that goes into this place.
